Route 66 Trip Nr. 3
Nach meiner tollen Reise letztes Jahr durch die National-Parks im mittleren Westen, geht es dieses Jahr wieder auf bekanntes Terrain.
Ich werde nach 2014 und 2022 ein drittes Mal die Route 66 fahren. Das hat aber auch einen besonderen Grund. Denn die Route 66 feiert dieses Jahr ihren 100. Geburtstag. Viele Orte und Sehenswürdigkeiten lassen sich daher einiges einfallen. Aber nicht nur deswegen habe ich mich entschieden dieses Jahr die Tour nochmal zu machen sondern auch, um der Route 66 Tribut zu zollen. Sie hat mir auf meiner allerersten Reise überhaupt in die USA gezeigt, was dieses Land zu bieten hat. Ohne die Reise 2014 auf dieser Strecke, hätte ich niemals meine USA Familie kennengelernt und wahrscheinlich auch nie das Land, die Natur und die Einzigartigkeit kennen- und liebengelernt.
Start ist der 24.08.26 wie gewohnt in Chicago. Dieses Mal fahre ich aber gleich am ersten Tag weiter nach Joliet. Also kein Besuch in Chicago direkt. Da war ich ja 2024 zu einem einwöchigen Städtetrip.
Da es dieses Mal etwas Besonderes ist, wollte ich mir soviel Zeit wie möglich nehmen. Anfangs habe ich mit 4 - 5 Wochen gerechnet. Am Ende sind es aber "nur" 23 Tage (inkl. Ankunfts- und Abflugtag). Aber ich habe den Trip so geplant, wie es für mich Sinn macht und ich bin damit echt happy. Extratage wird es dieses Mal in beiden Springfield (Illinois + Missouri), in St. Louis, in Tulsa, in Oklahoma City und im Großraum von Los Angeles geben. Da sind so einige Sachen, die ich noch sehen möchte.
Es wird auch einen speziellen Route 66 Passport geben, der soll dann aber erst im April rauskommen.
Da die meisten Veranstaltungen im ersten Halbjahr und im November sind, werde ich leider an nicht wirklich vielen teilnehmen können. Aber, und das ist auch einer der Hauptgründe, warum ich im August fahren, es wird leerer und günstiger sein, als zu den Veranstaltungszeiten.
Zurück wird es dann am 15.09.2026 von L.A. gehen. Hotels und Flug sind gebucht. Beim Mietwagen warte ich noch auf ein günstiges Angebot. Das geht grad wild rauf und runter.
Ich versuche dieses Jahr auch wieder hier mehr zu bloggen.

Route 66 Trip No. 3
After my awesome trip through the National Parks in mid western last year, I'll be back in well-known areas.
After 2014 and 2022 I'm gonna drive Route 66 for the third time. But with a special reason. Route 66 is gonna celebrate it's 100 birthday. Many cities and sights will come up with some special ideas to celebrate. But that won't be the only reason I've decided to do another Route 66 trip this year. I wanna pay tribute to Route 66. That road showed me on my very first trip to the US what this land can offer. Without that trip back in 2014, I'll never met my great US family and probably never got to know and loved the land, the nature and the uniqueness of the US.
I'm gonna start again in Chicago on August, 24. But this time I'll heading down to Joliet right after arriving. So, no visit in Chicago. I was there for a week on a city trip in 2024.
Because this time will be very special, I wanted to take as much time as possible. I thought about 4 - 5 weeks. At the end there will be "only" about 23 days (incl. arrival day and the day of departure). But I planned this trip as I thought it will be making as much sense for me. And I'm pretty happy with it.
There will be extra days in both Springfield (Illinois + Missouri), St. Louis, Tulsa, Oklahoma City and the metropolitan area of Los Angeles. There are a lot of things left to see.
And they will print a special Route 66 Passport which will be published in April.
Because most of the events will be host in the first half of the year and in November, I won't participate in so much. But this is pretty ok for my because on main reason is, that it will be less crowded and cheaper in August than at the time of the events.
I'm gonna leave the US from L.A. on September, 15. Hotels and the flights are already booked but for the rental car, I still need to wait for a good offer. It's a pretty up and down at the moment.
